A concert in the Hampstead & Highgate Festival
A reflective and poignant setting of the Requiem Mass was written by
Gabriel Fauré in 1877. It includes the beautiful and subdued In
Paradisum. The Hungarian Zoltán Kodály wrote his Missa Brevis during the
bombing of Budapest in the Second World War. This performance is of the
original version, for choir and organ. Elgar's stirring setting of Psalm
29 completes a wonderful and varied programme of enjoyable music.
