With such a big choir and such an ambitious programme featuring professional musicians, we really appreciate every penny that supports us.
As well as coming to our concerts, many people have become Friends of the choir.
We don’t charge a set amount for being a Friend of HCS – contributions can be anything from £30 a year.
This vital financial support helps us to stage our concerts and is a really valuable way of keeping in touch with our audience. As a thank you for their contribution, Friends receive:
- Advance information about our programmes
- Vouchers for programmes and drinks at all HCS concerts
- Acknowledgement in our concert programmes

We’re a community choir, giving local people the opportunity to perform wonderful music with professional musicians and soloists. We are almost entirely self-supporting through membership subscriptions and concert ticket sales, and rely heavily on this income, along with our Friends scheme.
Our Musical Director Ronald Corp is strongly committed to nurturing the singing talent of tomorrow and we regularly sing with schools and youth groups – in fact many members of youth choirs join our ranks!
If you don’t wish to become a Friend, but would still like to help, please consider a donation to us.
With your help we can develop new audiences and spread our love of choral music to a wider audience, commission new pieces and inspire young people to sing.
By commissioning choral music—paying a composer to write a new piece for a specific purpose or event—individuals become involved and active participants in the creation of a legacy for future generations. The reasons why people commission music are intensely personal and varied – from an anniversary, to the birth of a child, to a memorial, to a gift for a loved one.
We’ve established a designated commission fund which is used to fund the creation of new works for us to sing. Donations to the commission fund can be a gift aid donation for tax purposes.
If you’re thinking of making a donation to the commission fund, but want to know more then please contact our treasurer, Tim McCarron, or our chairman, Nick Janmohamed on firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you’ve enjoyed singing with us, or hearing us as a member of the audience, you’ll understand how powerful music can be, and how important it is to continue this great English tradition, inspiring future generations.
If you’d like to help HCS flourish, have you considered leaving a legacy? You’ll need to consult a solicitor, but it’s quite straightforward – and tax efficient! Download our Leaving a Legacy form, which also has advice and guidance. When complete please send to Nick Janmohamed on email@example.com
